Crowthorne Parish Council is awarded Foundation Status under Local Council Award Scheme
Crowthorne Parish Council was presented with this prestigious award by Tony Troughton, BALC Chairman on the 6 December 2016. The Foundation Award recognises that the Parish Council achieves good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement.
The Chairman, Cllr Bob Wade, was quoted as being delighted and said that this award demonstrates that Crowthorne Parish Council meets the criteria set by the sector for operating lawfully and according to standard practice. The Parish Council is building a foundation for continued improvement and future growth and development.
The new Local Council Award Scheme is a peer assessed programme that has been designed to celebrate the successes of the very best local councils, and provides a framework to support local councils to improve and develop, to meet their full potential. The scheme offers councils the opportunity to show that they meet the standards set by the sector and puts in place the conditions for continued improvement.
The Award Scheme has been designed to provide the tools and encouragement to those councils at the beginning of their improvement journeys, as well as promoting and recognising councils that are at the cutting edge of the sector. It is only through the sector working together, to share best practice, drive up standards and support those who are committed to improving their offer to their communities that individual councils and the sector will reach its full potential.
